In recent and coming years, the Egyptian health system is witnessing an unprecedented boom at all levels, whether in developing hospitals or modernizing their infrastructure and equipment, in addition to the great efforts made by the government to develop the health service and provide it with the highest quality to citizens. 

< p>The state is investing billions of pounds in this development within a vision aimed at building the Egyptian human being, which is clearly evident through the continuous follow-up of the political leadership, as well as the repeated visits of the Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and his Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, to a number of major medical facilities recently, with the aim of following up on plans to develop current and future medical projects.

In this context, “Rosal Youssef” newspaper reviews The most important health projects being developed or scheduled in the future, which aim to achieve a qualitative shift in the health system, in line with the country’s goals in the sustainable development strategy. 

The report also presents details regarding the billions being spent for Improving and modernizing the health system, with the aim of moving it to a level that is in line with the systems of developed countries and relies on modern medical technologies.

 

180 billion for 1,220 projects

 

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, indicated that the state has spent about 180 billion pounds on developing 1,220 health projects, With the aim of building and developing hospitals over a period of ten years. 

He also pointed out that 20 of these projects are being implemented in the current fiscal year at an estimated cost of 10.5 billion pounds, with plans to implement 54 other projects in the next fiscal year 2025-2026, at a total cost of 60 billion pounds. 

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health, added that the total spending on the health sector during the ten Over the past years, it has exceeded one trillion pounds.

 

Future projects

 

Future projects implemented by the Ministry of Health include developing the infrastructure necessary to implement the comprehensive health insurance system in various governorates, as the project includes    20 ​​hospitals in 11 governorates are scheduled to be completed in January 2025, with a capacity of 2,648 thousand beds, at a total cost of 10.7 billion pounds. 

The Ministry is also working on evaluating plans to develop old hospitals, in When the governorates of Cairo, Giza, and Alexandria were chosen to begin modernizing the existing hospitals in these areas during the current fiscal year, with two hospitals in each… Governorate.

The program also includes the establishment of 10 model hospitals with a capacity of 200 beds in various Egyptian cities distributed among the regions, with these projects being completed by the beginning of 2027, at a cost of 12.5 billion pounds.

These cities include: Al-Marj in Cairo, Al-Khosos in Qalyubia, Talkha in Dakahlia, New Kafr El-Sheikh, Abu Hammad in Sharkia, Kafr El-Dawwar in Beheira, New Sohag, Qus in Qena, Al-Qusiya in Assiut, and New Minya. 

In addition to other national projects, such as the establishment of integrated medical cities, including the “Medical Capital” For research and training affiliated with hospitals and educational institutes on an area of ​​230 acres, as well as the establishment of a private university for medical sciences and medical technology.

 

The second phase of comprehensive health insurance

 

Development in the second phase of the comprehensive health insurance project aims to expand the scope of health services in the governorates of Damietta, Matrouh, Kafr El-Sheikh, and North Sinai and Minya, which will benefit about 12.8 million citizens at a cost of 120 billion pounds. 

This phase includes 65 hospitals, with a total of 10,669 thousand beds, and 516 primary care centers, with the possibility of modifying these numbers according to the results that will be obtained from the field survey. 

The work plan includes developing and establishing 40 hospitals at a cost of 44.4 billion pounds, as well as establishing and developing 516 primary care units at a cost of 30.96 One billion pounds.

The second phase is followed by the third phase of comprehensive health insurance, which includes 6 governorates: Beheira, Red Sea, Alexandria, Sohag, Assiut and the New Valley. The fifth and final phase includes 4 governorates: Sharkia, Giza, Qalyubia, and Cairo, according to the priorities and needs of these governorates. Regions.

 

Diverse projects

 

Hospital development projects in the coming period aim to establish the Nile Specialized Hospital for Children within the framework of the Nasser Institute development project, where the new hospital will have a capacity ranging between 250 And 300 beds.

 The project also includes “Sakina” Hospital. For mental health care in the new city of El Alamein, which will operate with a capacity of up to 950 beds at a total cost of 6 billion pounds.

 In addition, the operational efficiency of 150 hospitals in various parts of Egypt is being raised, with the introduction of medical services. Specialized hospitals, such as open-heart surgeries, in the first phase of these projects, which include 8 hospitals: Tamiya Central, Zagazig General, Shubra General, Ain Shams General, Iman General, Tahta in Sohag, Al-Adwa in Minya, and Tanta in general.

 

Nile Medical City

 

Nile Medical City, which was formerly known as Nasser Institute, is witnessing massive development work aimed at increasing the hospital’s capacity and improving the quality of services provided.  

The Nile Medical City is the largest medical city in Egypt and the Middle East, and it is the largest project in the history of the Ministry of Health. 

This development is expected to increase the capacity The hospital has about 2,000 beds. The institute receives about 2 million patients annually, and includes 64 clinics in 28 medical specialties. 

 

Dar es Salaam Oncology

 

Dar es Salaam Oncology Hospital (formerly known as Harmel) provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for oncology patients, and includes departments for treating breast oncology, hematological oncology, and medical oncology. Children, bone marrow transplantation, in addition to cardiac catheterization, therapeutic nutrition, and a psychological treatment unit. It is planned to develop the existing building and construct a new one in cooperation with the Military Works Department of the Armed Forces, with the aim of transforming the hospital into an integrated treatment center. Cancer.

It aims to develop the hospital into a global medical center for oncology in partnership with the Gustave Roussy Foundation. French.

The center will include 9 operating rooms, 33 beds for the marrow transplant unit,

29 beds in intensive care, in addition to 209 beds in the inpatient department and 120 beds in the “day.” Care”, in addition to 34 specialized clinics.

 

Bulaq Abu Al-Ela 

 

The project to establish the new Boulaq Abu Al-Ela General Hospital will include 130 beds, including 48 inpatient beds, 62 care beds, and 20  A nursery for premature infants, in addition to 19 dialysis machines, 63 outpatient clinics, and 5 operating rooms.

The hospital is located On an area of ​​7,233 thousand square meters, it includes a main building consisting of two basements, a ground floor, and 6 upper floors, with a separate entrance for outpatient clinics. The total area of ​​the project is 31 thousand square meters, and 38% of the works have been completed.

 

Umm Al-Misreyeen General Hospital

 

Umm Al-Misreyeen General Hospital is witnessing the construction of a new building with a capacity of 287 beds, with the addition of a building for outpatient clinics and raising the efficiency of 7 other buildings… thus reaching The hospital’s capacity is 403 beds, including 306 in the inpatient department, 53 in intensive care, 10 for children, and 22 beds for neonatal intensive care, in addition to 23 dialysis units, 37 outpatient clinics, 10 operating rooms, as well as 6 natural birth booths.

 

Bulaq al-Dakrur

 

The capacity of Boulaq al-Dakrur General Hospital reaches 222 beds, including 10 reception beds, 14 nursery beds, 13 intensive care beds, and 6 intensive care beds. In intermediate care, there are 19 dialysis machines.

 It also includes 18 outpatient clinics, 7 operating rooms, and 4 coefficient. 75% of the project was implemented by the National Authority for Military Production, with the construction of an outpatient clinic building on an area of ​​2,400 square meters.
